I had a previous Keloid behind both of my ears after I got my ear's pierced at Clair's about a year ago.

My mom had the same thing when she was little. The doctor said that if I apply pressure to it, it might go away. My g-pa welted dimes to a clip-on earring which I wore for several weeks and the keloids went away. I was debating whether or not to get my ears pierced again or not. My mom said that the doctor told her it would probably be safe if I got them pierced after I turned 24. And explanation for this?!?!? and what do you experts out there think?

You are less likely to keloid if you are pierced with a needle rather than a gun by a qualified, experienced piercer. They can work with you on proper jewlery selection and placement, aftercare and maintainence. These simple steps can prevent keloids from forming in the first place.

Reply:not an expert. if you got a keloid the first time then you will probably head for one the next time as well. far as i know age doesn't make a difference. you're lucky you got off easy on the first keloids. i had a friend who had to have his entire earlobe removed after he tried piercing it.
