Keloid on my rook piercing?

There is a lump/bump on the top hole of my rook piercing. It has gotten bigger and I noticed it about a week ago.

I think its a keloid.

Is there any way to treat it?

I'm kind of freaking out about it.

Keloid on my rook piercing?
Keep cleaning your piercing as your piercer instructed. If it's not hot and seems otherwise healthy you probably are just developing a keloid. This is nothing to panic about. Just leave the bump alone and keep cleaning.

Some ears just form keloids as part of healing. On the other hand they can also form from the jewlery being bumped and tugged on or otherwise aggravating your piercing. Keloids can also form if your jewlery isnt fitted well or your piercing is positioned incorrectly. If you think it looks a bit off, take it to your piercer to have them check.

If you are sleeping on the ear with the rook, wearing headphones on it, spending hours on the phone with it, or playing with your jewlery, then stop. The more you move the jewlery and apply pressure to it, the more your skin will try to scar.

Keloids will pass on their own in time. The more you fiddle with some of them, the worse they get. Just keep your piercing clean and avoid bumping or agravating it. If you still arent sure about it, take it to your piercer. They are there to help and have seen thousands of bumps on ears.
Reply:The best advice I have gotten on this problem is to use sea salt soaks twice a day. You can get sea salt from a tattoo parlor, follow the listed instructions and soak your rook (with a tissue, whatever) with warm water. The warm water stimulates blood flow which also helps the piercing heal faster. My piercer told me not to use antibacterial soap either as it will destray the good stuff as well as the bad, making your piercing take longer to heal. Also another miracle over the counter thing is vitamin E oil, it helps alot with the scarring and keloid problems. Good luck and if anything serious happens go back to the place you were pierced and ask for their help. If you don't trust them, any good piercing place should be willing to help you in advice and assistance.
