I'm planning to get a tattoo but... i fear keloid formations...?

i am a 19 yr old filipino man who is plannin to get a tat. ive wanted one since i have a birth mark (beckers nevus) on my left upper arm. But when i was still young, i had some pimples, and i would pick on them, and 2 of them have become keloids. 1 on my right arm at the shoulder, and one of the side of my left arm. this tells me that i can be at risk of getting a keloid if i tattoo ontop of my birth mark... but does anyone really know if it will be a good or bad idea to do it? i have the mark on my arm for so long... its more of a confidence boost tattoo more than anything. please reply if i should get one or not... and please, if you can, put as much info if you could :)

Select a good artist and

go in and talk about this.

The best advise you can

get, will be from someone

that is looking directly at

the problem.

Reply:So don't get a tattoo.
Reply:Dont get one
Reply:Go to a professional, whatever you do
Reply:I'm not sure about it because I haven't done any research, but I don't know if they'll tattoo over a birthmark. I know they won't put ink into a mole, because if they do, it could make it less noticable if the mole begins to have signs of cancer.

I don't think birthmarks are at any kind of risk to turn cancerous like moles are, but if I were you, I would find an artist in your area (a professional, licensed artist) and discuss it all with him. He will be able to tell you all the risks, and help you come up with a design that will really cover it- something unique and just for you, not flash.
Reply:At most places they dont Tattoo over birthmarks, spots or scars. To be safe you shouldnt really get that done.
Reply:since you have a keloid, you are not only at risk of getting them, but its a certainty that you will get one if you do anything that causes them. even though you dont like your birthmark, you dont want to risk getting a tattoo and possibly having keloids in that area. this would just make a bad situation worse. nobody is perfect and you dont want to do something that can cause huge regrets later.
Reply:no reputible tattoo artist will tattoo over a birthmark... it can be hard to find a good tattoo artist to tattoo over freckles... generally, in tattooing, birthmarks, moles and freckles are all things that won't be tattooed over...
Reply:EWE! i would much rather date a guy with a birthmark other then a tat.! especially if you are using to cover it up from something! i mean you might be able to get rid of the birthmark some other way!
