Keloid Removal?

Is there a safe way to remove a keloid on the earlobe.


I was told by a doctor that he prefers to inject it with treatments because they will grow back.





On the other hand, I read somewhere that one its cut off it can be treated and the chances of it comin back will be less.





Anyone?

Well, keloids are a trouble of wound healing, overproduction of collagen fibers, so if you cut it and it heals again, it can grow again unless you do something to avoid this over healing. That thing can be to use corticosteroids shots.





Corticosteroid shots reduce the inflammation and decrease the healing process to avoid overproduction of collagen fibers, so if he was my patient I would give him the shots in the keloid.
Reply:My son has one and he had it removed surgically and he also keeps getting those steroid shots and if he doesn't get them often it starts to grow. I really can't tell you any good news from what my son has gone thru for the last 2-3 years of dealing with his.
Reply:Removing or injecting should be last defence.





My daughter had huge keloids on her ears and we took her to go see a close freind of ours. (A plastic surgeon.)


She said she would not do surgery on them right away but instead gave her a se of clip on earrings. They were gold plated and were actually more like a clamp than an earring.





She told my daughter to were them as often as possable and in about 6 weeks they will be hardly noticeable.





Darn if she wann't right.


She also told my duaghter to keep the crappy earrings out of her head. Wear nothing but gold.
