I got a keloid from my nose ring, will I get one from a tattoo?

I had to get my nose re-pierced about 4 times because the post wasn't long enough and it would fall out and close up. I believe this is what caused the keloid to form. I have two holes in each ear and my cartilage pierced and I'd never gotten one before. I'm thinking about getting a small tattoo on the back of my neck. How likely is it that I will get a keloid from it?

The second answerer is correct.

Keloids are cause by an auto-immune disorder.

You just happen to have a nasty bump on your nose because you irritated it so much.

If you didn't have any problem with any of your other piercings, you should be fine.
Reply:very unlikely unless you are black...so do you have a big bubble on your nose or what? I'm sorry, I bet that hurts, I know it would getting it done 4 times anyways!
Reply:The number of piercings in one spot does not determine keloid formation, %26amp; although more common in african-americans, anyone can have them. Keloids are an auto-immune disorder in which the body over produces scar tissue to replace damaged tissue, so chances are likely if you get a tattoo or other piercing or injury.
Reply:Chances are, no, probably not. If you have other piercings and only the nose keloided up you should be fine. Some people are prone to getting keloids, other people just kinda accidently get one when a piercing goes wrong. It really sounds like you are one of those people. To be safe though (if you have the money) you may want to see a dematologist and ask them about it. I truely think you'll be fine though. Just make sure that you take care of your tattoo exactly how the artist tells you to.
