I have a keloid from a previous cartilage piercing I took out... can I re-pierce in the same area?

I got a cartilage piercing with a piercing gun about 2 weeks ago, and after doing research on how bad they are, I took it out after two days. There was a bit of swelling and redness at the time I took it out, but that went away soon after. The hole is completely closed now, but there is a small bump on the front of the piercing area and a bigger bump on the back. Is this a keloid? The bump on the front of my ear looks slightly white, like there is pus trapped underneath. How can I get rid of this? I talked to a professional piercer, and he said that sea salt soaks won't work now because there is no hole for the scar tissue to drain out of. I would also like to get it re-pierced in the same spot (with a needle this time)--is this a bad idea because it is right where my old scar tissue is? Or would this help drain the dead tissue?

I talked to several piercers, and I got all different answers. Where would I find the most reliable information about this? Thanks in advance for your help!

doctors can't do anything about it, it's scar tissue and it probably won't go away like a normal scar won't. though it may get less noticeable after a few years
Reply:I had the same exact thing! I still have it! That's when I realized how bad guns are for piercings. You never use a gun for any piercing on your body, because what it does to the cartliage it shatters it, and gives it a hard time to heal. I got mine piercing when I was 12, and Im 14 now and i still have it in my ear. I say ask the best piercer you know, the most expierenced. Most likely the keloid wont go away, it'll probably take years to go away, probably wont ever go away, it depends, you could get it pierced again, but WITH A NEEDLE! from a professional piercer. and it can break through the keeloid and it'll hopefully be gone, Idk because i've never done it, I was going to, but mind isn't that bad, I let it go, but if it botheres you than talk to a good piercer. You have opitions on how to get rid of it, use a hot compress, soak a clean wash cloth in hot water, and hold it on the keloid, and softly massage it, dont be soo ruff though, the hot compress should shrink it. do that everyday, if i doesn't go away, talk to a piercer. I'm not quite sure if your is a keloid though, it could be, my keloid is inside mine way sound horrible lol but it really is it. Yours doesn't sound good, but regardless of what it is, do the hot compress. and just a tip, you should of never took out the piercing, thats what happened to me, when I was sleeping, i lost the jewelry and that bump started to appear. it would of never happened to you if you didn't take it out, you should of waited till it healed completely and than took it out. I do wish the best of luck to you! God Bless!
Reply:Don't do it. You should see a Dr.
