Surgically Removing a Keloid?

Has anybody ever gotten a Keloid surgically removed by a plastic surgeon?? I went to my general doctor today and he said it is definitley a Keloid and he said a plastic surgeon would remove it then inject steroids about 6 times... If anyone has gotten this done, what was your outcome/experience?? also, around how much does it cost???

i'm trying to decide it if i want to get it done or not... i know that it can come back quiet larger than normal- that's my only negative reason not to get it done

HELP

Surgically Removing a Keloid?
Keloids are smooth overgrowths of fibroblastic tissue that arise in an area of injury (eg, surgical scars, truncal acne) or, occasionally, spontaneously.

Treatment is often ineffective. Monthly corticosteroid injections (eg, triamcinolone acetonide 5 to 40 mg/mL) into the base of the lesion sometimes flatten the keloid. Surgical or laser excision may debulk lesions, but they often recur. Excision is more successful if preceded and followed by a series of intralesional corticosteroid injections. Gel sheeting (applying a soft, semiocclusive dressing made of cross-linked polymethylsiloxane polymer, or silicone) or pressure garments are other adjuncts to prevent recurrence.
