Should I remove a keloid scar (piercing scar tissue)?

I had a navel piercing a year ago. Unfortunately, it somehow got inflamed and removed itself out of the skin; hence, created a scar which I believe is called the Keloid scar. I had once stopped by the piercing place to ask for professional suggestion of whether not I could be able to re-pierce it, and the recommendation came out to be a negative answer.

But I really really miss my navel piercing. I want another one very badly. Therefore, I have been thinking about removing the scar and get another piercing done after that. Would that be a positive way to do it? If so, where could I be able to get the scar removed?

Anyhow, if anyone has any better recommendation, please feel free to write me a comment. Your inputs are very welcome and appreciated.

Odds are isn't isn't a keloid. You should see a dermatologist and consult with him/her about what it is, what the treatment options are, and if you would be able to get another piercing without risking a repeat of this incident
Reply:I think if you get your belly button pierced the same will happen. But, you can always try. To remove keloids, you have to go to a dermatologist. He will inject the keloid with steroid and itll go down in like a week or two depending its size. If its big, they might have to inject it a few times. It does hurt!! Good luck.

Reply:I say, just get a fake clip one. They look just as sexy if not sexier.
Reply:That's not a good idea. I have a decent sized keloid on my ear, and I've been to the doctors for it and they say you can have it removed, but theres a chance it'll grow back. Not just a 10% chance either, maybe more like 40%, but I'm estimating here so don't quote that. But if you get it removed and it doesn't come back but you get it repierced anyways, then there is an even greater chance it'll come back with the new piercing.

It was rejected the first time for reasons you don't even know, so chances are it'll happen again. Listen to your body, it rejected it, and if you pierce it again, what makes you think it'll go smoothly this time? Sorry I can't give you any advice you'd like to hear, but I'd really suggest you just leave it alone at this point.
Reply:I think you should ask a piercing studio what it is first to be sure. I also had piercings that have 'migrated' (moved outward out of the skin).

I have a scar on my chest where I had a 'cleavage' / 'sternum' piercing and I massage cocoa butter into it, its fading....slowly but surely.

I wouldnt recommend getting pierced in the exact same place even if you did get in removed. Depending on how big your scar is you could get the bottom of your belly button pierced instead or two piercings from the top on angles instead of the more traditional style.

Good Luck!
