What causes u to get a keloid on your ear??
Keloids are mostly found on earlobes, the sternum, shoulders, the upper back and any place where abrasion has occurred. These are usually the result of pimples, insect bites, scratching, burns or any other skin trauma. Certain procedures are known to cause keloid formation such as within post-operative surgical scars or on earlobes following piercing and behind the ears after otoplasty.

It must be noted that there is no treatment for keloids that is considered to be 100% effective. There are a few companies that are working towards a more effective treatment, focusing on aspects such as Transforming Growth Factor inhibition.

Some of the treatments that are currently available are described below. These treatments have varying degrees of effectiveness. All the invasive methods of treatment like surgery carry a serious risk of the keloid recurring and becoming bigger than it previously was.
Reply:Keloid is a type of scar tissue.

I am a beauty therapist and we were told throughout our training that you have to have a predisposed skin type to get keloid scarring.

This usually happens to people with dark to very dark/black skin, a normal light scar on other people would leave these people with this skin type left with the keloid scarring.

If it is a really big scar than all skin types would to a certain degree be left with keloid scarring.

The ear area doesn't have a lot of tissue so would scar more easily anyway.

There is nothing that I have heard of that could prevent this but lots of products that help to fade scarring that can help but would take a bit longer on these types of skin.

It's just down to genetics, not much you can do to change that really.
