Have you ever got a keloid from an ear piercing?

My cousin has a small wart like bump now that she says will cost a couple hundred to get removed...and here's the kicker, it might grow back. She thinks it was caused by a allergy to the metal in the earrings.......ever had this? I told her maybe should get a clip-on earring to wear over the bump or something.....anyone have any ideas?

Have you ever got a keloid from an ear piercing?
i dont have a keloid however i do have scar tissue in my second whole because it never fully healed right

i woul just leave it alone
Reply:Yeah, my sister-in-law had hers removed but they grew back, I'm not sure how she can hide them, just have to accept it.
Reply:Usually keloids are due to scarring. Yes they can grow back because removing them is a surgical procedure which can also heal with scarring. I have small ones in both ears. It seems to help if I wear solid gold, or surgical steel earrings. Unfortunately some people are just developer keloid scarring with healing. If she gets clip-on earrings, be sure they are not cheap. Get surgical steel, or real gold.
Reply:That scar is called a keloid. A keloid occurs when your body doesn't realize it's time to stop developing reconstructive tissues so it continues to grow. The reason it may come back is because your skin is probably quite delicate. I know this because I have one. I got cortisone shots to help it go down but it doesn't take the red/purple discoloration away completely. I say just leave it alone -- those in airplanes can't see it and those that can probably don't care.
Reply:my daughter got very large keloids from chicken pox. they are scar tissue. a dermotologist removed them and to minimize the chance of them growing back injected them with a cortizone shot and then did some type of laser treatment about 3 times on them over the course of a few months. they didn't come back. they are not dangerous, just ugly.
Reply:no and don't wear any earings.
