Am I the only one who has keloid scars on their face??

when I was younger I had really bad acne. Now that i'm almost 19, my acne has cleared up but i am very prone to keloid scars. I'm getting them taken care of but i'v been made fun of for years about them ans i geuss i'm just feeling srry for myself today. Does anyone know how i feel. (that last part was really cheesey, srry)

african-american individuals are prone to keloid scars because of the amount of pigment in their skin. other people that are generally much darker skinned tend to have this problem as well. i would talk to a dermatologist about reducing your scar since there aren't any over the counter medications that would make any significant difference. and don't feel sorry for yourself...if a bad skin day is the worst you've got to worry about, your life's not all that bad.
Reply:I am so sorry to hear that other's have been insensitive enough to make you self-conscious about something beyond your control. Unfortunately, there are always a few idiots in the crowd, with idiotic remarks and opinions. I do not have keloids on my face, but I had a girlfriend who did. She had been bitten on the cheek as a child, and also formed them from bites and acne. That was before they had laser therapy, and she had wait until she was old enough for plastic surgery at 18. My heart bled for her everytime somebody opened their mouth to pass a comment on it, and I know hers did as well. About the only positive thing I can think to say to you is that at least you know your friends are friends for who you are, and not what you look like. At least you've been able to screen out the shallow people, and the idiots you wouldn't want for friends anyway. Meantime, good luck with the treatment, and enjoy the new look. And it doesn't really matter what the idiots of the world think. No matter how beautiful they think they are now, eventually time, gravity and wrinkles are going to catch up with them.
